About
Lynn Kibbe works primarily in scratchboard art. This difficult and time consuming medium allows her to focus on minute detailing of her subject matter. She portrays her favorite subject; that of nature to include animal life (both domestic and wildlife), florals, and landscapes.
Primary medium(s) I work in
  • scratchboard
Do you offer custom work / commissioned work?
yes
If you can make custom work, what is your typical lead time?
1 month
Please provide any additional information you would like to share.
How would you describe the technique(s) that you use?
Scratchboard consists of a hardwood panel, then a layer of kaolin clay, with a black India ink layer over top. The image is created by removing the black ink from the board to reveal the white clay beneath. I typically use a scalpel knife and add color with a brush. Many layers of scratching and coloring provide depth to the piece.
What professional arts or related organizations do you belong to?
ISSA (Intl Scratchboard Society), BEAL (Bald Eagle Art League), CCAC (Clinton Co Arts Council)
What is your background / education related to your artistic media?
I am self-taught.
